Duties Safely operate commercial trucks, including tractor-trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and refrigerated trailers across over-the-road (OTR) routes. Plan routes efficiently using GPS navigation systems to optimize delivery times and fuel consumption. Load and unload freight with manual handling techniques while ensuring cargo safety and security. Transport hazardous materials (hazmat) and dangerous goods following all hazardous materials regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards. Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections on trucks to ensure compliance with FMCSA regulations and vehicle safety standards. Manage delivery schedules by adhering to route plans, ensuring timely pickups and drop-offs at designated locations. Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, cargo details, and delivery documentation in compliance with FMCSA regulations. Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding route changes, delivery status, or any issues encountered during transit. Experience Proven experience in commercial truck driving with a focus on freight transportation across diverse routes. Hands-on experience operating various types of trucks such as tractor-trailers, flatbeds, tankers, or refrigerated trailers. Familiarity with GPS navigation tools for route planning and real-time navigation adjustments. Knowledge of logistics cargo handling including load & unload procedures for freight of different types—especially refrigerated goods or hazardous materials. Understanding of FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations related to hours of service, vehicle maintenance, and safety protocols. Delivery driver experience emphasizing customer service skills during drop-offs and pickups. Ability to handle manual transmission trucks confidently while complying with safety standards.
