PM Central Nature of Job:

Essential Functions and Responsibilities Directs vehicles to the proper area of the facility based on site fill plan. Directs and communicates with trucks and vehicles in and out of the working area in all weather conditions. Controls traffic flow in the event of emergency. Inspects loads for signs of unacceptable waste. Removes unsegregated items such as tires, batteries, and other unacceptable materials, as needed. Follows all safety policies and rules including properly approaching vehicles, making eye contact with drivers to ensure signals are understood, and use of personal protective equipment. Enforces publicly posted safety rules and un-posted safety standards. Communicates with customers, scale house and equipment operators regarding incoming loads of waste or other issues as they arise. Follows guidelines and procedures for completing daily opening and closing tasks. Performs general labor duties including site clean-up, yard work and building maintenance, as needed. The employer may add to or change duties at any time and as determined by the County and its leaders to best ensure that the public is served through the work of the Department. Performs other related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Possess a high school diploma or the equivalent; AND Two (2) years' experience spotting or performing similar job functions preferred. Licenses and/or Certifications Possession of or the ability to obtain and maintain a valid Florida Driver's license with a driving record acceptable to the County Driving Policy and insurance program. Possess or the ability to obtain and maintain the Spotter Certification training within one (1) year of hire as a condition of employment. Knowledge, Abilities and Skills Knowledge of safety practices and hazards standard to work area. Ability to have good interpersonal and communication skills to deal with public. Ability to understand and implement verbal and written instructions. Ability to perform physical labor. Ability to comprehend written and oral work assignments and perform work as assigned. Ability to speak, write and comprehend the English language. Ability to have a good interpersonal and communications skills to deal with the public. Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions Work is primarily preformed in an outdoor environment and may be subject to frequent exposure to unpleasant environmental conditions or hazards or other disagreeable elements (e.g. irate customers, noise, heat, cold, doors heights and or dust). This position requires the ability to perform physical labor and requires stooping, crouching, walking, pulling, lifting, grasping, hearing, visual acuity (i.e. seeing up close, seeing far away, depth perception), kneeling, reaching, pushing, talking, standing, climbing, finger movement, repetitive motions. Frequent lifting of 10 to 15 pounds; occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds, and may require lifting up to 50 lbs. Work Location Not Eligible for Remote Work - This position is assigned to a county worksite. Due to the non-portable nature of the essential functions of this position, this position is not eligible for telework.
