Job Description
Job Summary Join our dynamic team as a Heavy Recovery Operator, where you will be at the forefront of vehicle recovery and transportation services. This role involves operating heavy-duty recovery equipment to safely tow, recover, and transport a variety of vehicles, including tractor-trailers, refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and hazardous materials. You will play a vital role in ensuring the swift and secure movement of freight across over-the-road routes while adhering to all safety and regulatory standards. Your expertise will help us maintain our reputation for reliable and efficient vehicle recovery operations. Duties Operate heavy-duty recovery equipment such as tow trucks, flatbeds, and specialized tractor-trailers to recover and transport damaged or disabled vehicles safely. Use GPS navigation systems to plan efficient routes for over-the-road (OTR) driving routes, ensuring timely deliveries and pickups. Load and unload freight, including hazardous materials (hazmat), following all OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration), FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration), and hazardous materials regulations. Transport various types of cargo such as refrigerated trailers, dangerous goods, freight, and specialty loads across long-distance routes. Conduct thorough inspections of recovery equipment and vehicles to ensure compliance with DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations and safety standards. Maintain accurate documentation for all recoveries, deliveries, load & unload activities, and route logs in accordance with company policies. Communicate effectively with dispatch teams to coordinate logistics cargo handling and route driving assignments while adhering to FMCSA regulations. Experience Proven experience in commercial truck driving with a focus on truck loading/unloading, delivery driving, or freight transportation. Familiarity with manual transmission trucks, tractor-trailers, flatbed trucks, tankers, refrigerated trailers, and hazardous materials handling. Demonstrated ability to operate GPS navigation systems confidently on over-the-road routes. Knowledge of DOT regulations, FMCSA guidelines, hazardous materials regulations, and safety protocols related to trucking and cargo handling. Prior experience in manual handling of logistics cargo or automobile transportation is highly desirable. Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with endorsements relevant to heavy recovery operations; experience with hazmat endorsements is a plus. Strong understanding of route driving strategies for efficient delivery schedules in diverse environments.
