Riverside Transport is seeking a safety-focused Yard Jockey to efficiently move trailers within our Kansas City yard. In this role, you'll spot trailers to and from dock doors, verify trailer IDs, and support smooth loading and unloading for our dry van, refrigerated, and specialized freight operations. You'll perform basic equipment inspections, follow all safety and yard procedures, and communicate closely with dispatch and warehouse teams. Responsibilities Safely move trailers in and out of docks and yards using yard tractor or hostler Inspect trailers for visible damage, secure doors, and verify trailer numbers Coordinate with dispatch and warehouse teams to support efficient loading and unloading Maintain accurate trailer yard logs and documentation in yard management systems Conduct basic pre- and post-trip inspections on yard equipment Follow all safety, DOT, and company policies while operating equipment Communicate clearly via radio or handheld devices with team members Report equipment issues, hazards, or delays promptly to supervisors Required Skills Yard tractor/hostler operation Trailer spotting and positioning Basic vehicle inspection Backing and maneuvering in tight spaces Use of yard management or dispatch systems Radio/handheld communication Knowledge of freight dock operations Basic DOT and safety awareness Time management in fast-paced yard Reading and matching trailer and load documentation
