Job Description Fleet Driver - Seasonal Summary of Duties The Fleet Driver will operate company fleet vehicles and perform general laborer duties in support of aircraft and civil operations for powerline work, forest fire contracts, and other contracts as needed. This position reports to the Fleet Manager and requires confidence in and around helicopter and civil operations, maintaining alertness to multiple concurrent activities, and a commitment to safe and conscientious commercial motor vehicle operations. Experience and proficiency in the following major areas: 1. Experienced in safely operating trucks with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) up to and over 26,000 lbs. 2. Knowledge of state and federal road regulations and laws 3. Hazardous materials transportation 4. DOT Hours of Service 5. Performing DOT vehicle inspections 6. Proficient at using GPS and other routing systems 7. Motive applications 8. Proficient computer skills 9. Excellent communication (oral and written) 10. Ability to organize a daily workload by priorities 11. Well-organized and reliable and must be able to multi-task Duties and Responsibilities 1. Safely and conscientiously utilize and operate all fleet trucks, vehicles, and equipment, observing all laws and industry standards of operation and use to complete assigned tasks and responsibilities 2. Drive trucks transporting hazardous materials 3. Perform inspections of your vehicle prior to and following each trip 4. Ensure vehicles and equipment are clean inside and outside and maintained accordingly 5. Assist pre/post trip inspections, incident and accident reporting, as well as fueling procedures 6. Identify areas of improvements, negligence, and wrongful handling of general safety and company vehicles and suggest new techniques to enhance current practice 7. Comply with DOT regulations 8. Ensure dispatching trucks are equipped with the necessary equipment for assigned contract(s) 9. Support aircraft for powerline work, fire contracts, and other contracts as required through refueling aircraft, hooking and removing long lines, and other ground support duties as assigned 10. Track fuel quantities and order when needed 11. Positively represent Lohman Helicopter through a professional and favorable appearance to the public and to the companies and entities that we work with 12. Satisfactorily complete all company mandated and assigned training classes and training courses within given time limits 13. Maintain constant alertness to the multiple concurrent activities of the landing zone, including the activities of other employees and contractors, and the movement of equipment/helicopters 14. Must be self-motivated, disciplined, dependable, and resourceful, with a can-do attitude 15. Maintain a consistent, open, and honest line of communication with your supervisor 16. Maintain state-issued Class A Commercial Driver's License with Hazmat, Tanker, Manual Transmission, and Air Brakes endorsements 17. Maintain DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate 18. Make safety a priority at all times Other Duties as Assigned 1. Due to the nature of small business operations, is necessary to fulfill task requirements of a varied nature to support the company's needs. Qualifications/Licenses 1. Current RT130 Wildland Fire Training Certificate 2. Valid Class A CDL, must acquire within 90 days 3. Hazmat Endorsement, must acquire within 90 days 4. Tanker Endorsement, must acquire within 90 days 5. Air Brakes Endorsement, must acquire within 90 days 6. Manual Transmission, must acquire within 90 days 7. Valid DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate, must acquire within 14 days 8. Clean driving record with no moving violations 9. Must pass a background check and DOT drug test 10. Prepared to travel within the operational region 11. Ability to lift and carry at least 50 pounds 12. High level of composure and good stress management 13. Alert, focused, and detail-oriented 14. $29.00 per hour 3.
