Job Description

Truck Driver Position Overview Perform skilled duties involving the safe and efficient operation of multiple styles of trucks including but not limited to dump trucks, end dumps and or side dumps (with and without pups (trailers) and tarping systems). Drivers will transport all types of loose material, sand, gravel, asphalt, and equipment to locations both residential and commercial. Drivers also transport various types of equipment to and from jobsites Essential Functions Transport construction materials and equipment to designated work sites; positions truck for efficient loading by excavator or loader. Thorough operational knowledge and skills of end dumps and/or side dumps and related equipment to be operated. Can operate various types of equipment safely and efficiently. Must keep accurate time and material records. Must follow verbal and written instruction. Knowledge of different types and sizes of aggregates. Ability for maneuvering and backing with trailer. Must be able to communicate effectively on the radio system. Performs daily check of oil, water, and tires. Adds fuel daily to prepare for work assignments; keeps notes of needed repairs or maintenance. Performs related duties as required. Minimum Qualifications An individual must have: Knowledge of operation procedures of heavy trucks and equipment; the ability to operate multiple types of equipment; knowledge of hazards and safety precautions related to above duties; some knowledge of laws and regulations governing the operation of related equipment; the ability to follow basic work routines requiring simple verbal or written instructions; ability to perform minor preventive maintenance on related equipment; ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing; ability to adapt to special emergency assignments; ability to work in various weather conditions and extremes; availability to travel up to 100 miles (in a company truck) from the office on a daily basis; ability to perform strenuous manual labor; ability to develop effective working relationships with fellow employees and supervisors. Certificates, License, Registrations Must possess a valid Idaho Commercial Driver's License, Class A, B. Must possess a valid Medical Card as per DOT standard. Work Requirements One to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in the operation of heavy double-axle trucks and related equipment Incident free driving record preferred Will be subject to drug and alcohol and/or physical abilities testing Able to safely operate heavy trucks and equipment on roadways or jobsites Ability to communicate using two-way radio Basic math Basic computer skills preferred Frequent local travel is required Physical Requirements Tasks generally require a variety of physical activities such as long periods of sitting, frequent climbing, and the use of hands to signal and handle equipment. The employee may also be required to stand, walk, crawl, kneel, bend, reach with hands and arms above their shoulders or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally move up to 100 pounds. Talking, hearing and seeing are essential to the performance of the job. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception. Daily exposure to weather extremes and seasonal conditions. Mental application utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, and common sense.
