Harvard, Illinois area Position Overview Geils Farms is seeking a dependable and experienced CDL Class A Truck Driver to join our farming operation. The primary responsibility of this position is hauling grain between our farms, grain storage facilities, elevators, processors, and other delivery locations throughout northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin. This is an excellent opportunity for a driver who wants to work locally, be home regularly, operate well-maintained equipment, and be part of a family farming operation. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-conscious, mechanically minded, and comfortable working independently. Agricultural or grain-hauling experience is preferred but is not required for the right candidate. Primary Responsibilities Operate semi-trucks and grain trailers safely and professionally. Haul corn, soybeans, and other agricultural commodities from farms and grain storage facilities to elevators and processors. Transport grain between farm locations and storage facilities. Load and unload grain safely and efficiently. Properly position trucks and trailers around grain bins, augers, grain carts, pits, and loading equipment. Inspect trucks and trailers before and after operation. Perform required DOT pre-trip and post-trip inspections. Monitor tires, brakes, lights, fluids, air systems, and other equipment for potential problems. Report mechanical issues or necessary repairs promptly. Maintain clean and organized trucks and trailers. Complete scale tickets, delivery paperwork, load information, and other required records accurately. Follow weight limits, load restrictions, DOT regulations, and applicable traffic laws. Communicate with farm management, elevator personnel, grain facilities, and other drivers regarding loads and delivery schedules. Help coordinate grain movement during harvest and throughout the year. Assist with basic farm or shop duties when trucking demand is lower. Maintain a professional appearance and attitude when representing Geils Farms at elevators, processors, and other facilities. Harvest Responsibilities During planting and harvest seasons, trucking is an important part of keeping the farming operation moving efficiently.

Responsibilities may include:

Hauling grain directly from fields. Working closely with combine and grain cart operators. Moving trucks between fields throughout the day. Delivering grain to farm storage facilities and commercial elevators. Monitoring truck and trailer capacity to prevent overloading. Communicating with farm personnel regarding field conditions and grain movement. Working longer hours during busy planting and harvest periods. Working occasional evenings and weekends when weather and harvest conditions require it.

Qualifications Candidates should have:

Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) . Ability to safely operate a tractor-trailer. Acceptable driving record. Knowledge of DOT safety regulations. Ability to pass applicable DOT physical and drug-testing requirements. Ability to safely enter and exit trucks and trailers throughout the workday. Ability to work independently and make sound decisions. Good communication skills. Strong attention to safety and equipment condition. Dependable attendance and willingness to work when needed during busy farming seasons. Preferred Experience The following experience is beneficial but not necessarily required: Grain hauling. Agricultural trucking. Hopper-bottom grain trailers. Farm equipment. Grain elevators and commercial grain facilities. Grain bins and farm grain-storage systems. Basic truck and trailer maintenance. Mechanical or farm equipment experience. We are willing to consider candidates with strong CDL driving experience who are interested in learning the agricultural side of the operation. Work Schedule This is primarily a local driving position , with drivers generally returning home after their shift rather than operating as an over-the-road driver. Hours will vary depending on the time of year and workload. During planting and harvest seasons, drivers should expect longer days and occasional weekend work. During other portions of the year, the schedule is generally more predictable.
