Job Description

COMPANY Meyer Building is a growing general contractor based just outside Fort Wayne, Indiana, known for its commitment to quality, strong client relationships, and disciplined approach to construction. Our people take pride in building projects the right way, supporting one another, and continuously improving how we work. We are looking for an organized, dependable Shop & Yard Technician to help keep our projects running efficiently by coordinating materials, preparing deliveries, and supporting daily shop and logistics operations. This role is essential to ensuring our field crews have the right materials, equipment, and resources at the right time.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Material Preparation & Inventory Pull, organize, and stage materials for upcoming construction projects. Verify material pick lists to ensure complete and accurate orders. Load and unload trailers using forklifts and other material-handling equipment. Help maintain accurate inventory and organized warehouse and yard storage. Shop & Facility Operations Maintain clean, safe, and organized shop, warehouse, and yard areas. Assist with general grounds maintenance, including mowing, snow removal, and seasonal upkeep. Support basic shop organization and light maintenance projects as needed. Operate forklifts, skid steers, and other equipment safely and efficiently. Transportation & Logistics Support Serve as the backup driver for Amish construction crews during planned and unplanned absences. Assist with moving trailers and equipment throughout the yard and between facilities. Coordinate with operations and field crews to ensure materials and equipment are delivered where and when they are needed. Help ensure projects remain on schedule by proactively supporting daily logistics needs. Team Support Work closely with operations, delivery drivers, and field crews to support daily project needs. Assist with special projects and provide support wherever needed to help the team succeed.
QUALIFICATIONS
Clean driving record and ability to pass a pre-employment DOT physical. Minimum age of 25 due to insurance requirements. Experience operating forklifts; skid steer experience preferred. Experience with warehouse operations, order picking, shipping, and receiving preferred. Experience using hand and power tools preferred. Ability to safely perform the physical demands of the position, including lifting, bending, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions. Dependable, organized, and committed to working safely as part of a team.

Pay:
$20.00 - $23.00 per hour
