Job Summary:
The Class A Driver is responsible for safely and efficiently delivering building materials to customer job sites. This position operates company vehicles, assists with loading and unloading materials, verifies orders for accurate and timely delivery, and provides excellent customer service. The Class A Driver must follow all DOT regulations and company safety policies while maintaining a professional and courteous attitude with customers and team members. Learn and understand company products, procedures, culture, and customer service philosophy. Provide excellent customer service to all clients. Load trucks according to the sales invoice and list of materials. Organize and secure loads to ensure safe and efficient transport. Verify accuracy of loads with the yard manager before departure. Deliver and unload materials at customer job sites, ensuring satisfaction. Follow delivery instructions and ensure timely deliveries. Perform vehicle inspections to ensure safe operation. Record delivery information on the sales invoice and communicate customer messages from the job site. Obey all traffic laws and safety regulations while operating company trucks and forklifts, including wearing seat belts at all times. Adhere to yard loading and security procedures. Accurately process merchandise returns with a credit memo. Address and resolve customer complaints professionally and promptly. Maintain cleanliness and order in assigned yard and areas. Assist with loading customer merchandise as needed. Must be able to work in ALL weather conditions. Perform other related duties as assigned. Strong desire to learn and grow professionally. Ability to respond to issues quickly and handle them in a calm, accurate, and professional manner. High school diploma or equivalent required. Valid Class A driver's license and clean driving record required. Forklift experience preferred. Proficiency in using a computer and calculator. Ability to stand and walk for 4 to 10 hours daily. Ability to lift and carry up to 70 pounds. Ability to stoop, kneel, and crouch as needed.
