Job Description Enjoy your fall working outside with family and community groups by coordinating our hayride program at Shawnee Mission Park, Oakridge Parklands. This position supervises hayride drivers and hayride operations.
Hourly rate:
$18.00 per hour. Work times vary when hayrides are scheduled in the evenings and weekends. Most programs are Friday evening through Sunday evening. There is flexibility in the schedule for some weekends off. Preparation and office work can be done at almost any time. This is a seasonal position from early September - Late November.
Job Requirements Essential Duties:
Scheduling, hiring, and supervising hayride drivers. Ordering, scheduling, and purchasing hayride program supplies, equipment, and services. Driving a tractor pulling a hay wagon on park trails and roads as needed. Set-up and clean-up of hayride program areas. Start and maintain campfires. Provide quality experiences to program participants. Check weather and make decisions on canceling programs. Call participants if program is cancelled. Communicate with Outdoor Education Manager. Duties and responsibilities, as required by business necessity may be added, deleted or changed at any time at the discretion of management, formally or informally, either verbally or in writing. Scheduling and shift assignments and work location may be changed at any time, as required by business necessity.
Minimum Job Requirements:
Good communication skills. High School Graduate or Equivalent. Must have a valid driver's license with good driving record. Required to pass criminal background check.
Preferred Job Requirements:
Experience working outdoors. Experience driving tractors or similar equipment and pulling a trailer/wagon.
Education/Experience Substitutions:
Education may be substituted for experience.
Physical, Environmental, and Special Working Conditions:
Requires working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions. Lifting and carrying program equipment. JCPRD requires reference/background screening for all positions. Specified criteria may vary by Department.
