Job Description
Incentive Pay for CDL Class A or B Licensed drivers with air brake and tanker endorsements.
EXAMPLES OF WORK
Positions operate, depending on area of assignment, vehicles requiring a commercial driver's license such as; dump trucks with air brakes with trailer attachment, concrete trucks, pot hole patchers, truck mounted vacuum / flusher units, and 18 wheeler w/ Low Boy trailer as necessary to maintain municipal waste water collection system, repair streets and pavements, construct and maintain storm water drainage system, as well as to assist with or operate any other equipment assigned and participate in labor work as needed. Assists in training workers to perform more responsible tasks, including equipment operation. Performs related work as required.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Literacy and a valid Louisiana Commercial Driver's license (Class A or B) with air brake and tanker endorsement are required to apply. Obtaining a valid Louisiana Commercial driver's license (Class A) with no operating restrictions, and has air brake and tanker endorsement are required within a specific period of time.
- Must also meet the general requirements of the City's auto insurance company.
- Positions in waste water collection are subject to state regulations, which requires certification of qualification by examinations in addition to education and experience for advancement so that Waste Water Collection certifications are highly desired for many positions in this class.
- Must pass the civil service exam, the post-offer drug screen, physical, and functional pre-placement testing.
- Must be a registered voter / copy of the voter of registration card must accompany the application.
Essential Functions :
Prolonged periods of concentration and coordination operating machinery requiring manual dexterity; strength; vision of at least 20/40 in each eye and depth perception of 80 seconds or arc or better; hearing and speaking abilities within normal limits; and ability to engage in heavy lifting, climbing, digging, exertion, and working in confined spaces are required by positions in this class. Wastewater — Lifting up to 110 lbs.; Public Works — Lifting up to 100 lbs. ◘ Benefits offered: Partially paid hospitalization, paid holidays, annual leave, sick leave, public retirement plan, annual cost of living general increases (typically 2%), and longevity increases of 2% for every five years of full time service. ◘ Applications may be obtained and must be submitted to the Municipal Civil Service Department, City Hall- Room 203, 457 East Main Street, in New Iberia.
