Job Description
Job Corps is the largest federal residential career training program in the country and has been operating for more than 60 years. We help eligible young people ages 16 through 24 complete their high school education, train them for meaningful careers, and assist them with obtaining employment and independence. By offering hands-on training in fields like manufacturing, health care, technology, and construction, we prepare students for lifelong careers in the industries that power America. Since 1964, Job Corps has trained and educated over two million individuals. Our Shriver campus is located right off of Route 2 in Devens, MA and services between 200 and 300 students at any given time with rolling admissions weekly. As a residential program, we function like a mini college campus, complete with a gym, basketball courts, dormitories, full-service cafeteria, wellness clinic, classrooms, trade workshops, offices, and more. Job Description Provides safe, efficient, and effective transportation for students. Performs maintenance and inspections of Center's fleet and systems to ensure functionality and prevent disruption of student and staff services. Completes, tracks, and documents work status and notifies supervisor of issues and concerns. Provides students with timely and efficient student transportation services as required. Maintains appropriate vehicle documentation per DOL/Company requirements. Conducts vehicle inspections and reports safety issues and concerns to supervisor. Schedules and delivers vehicles for preventive maintenance and repairs as necessary. Maintains appropriate personal attendance, accountability and work productivity standards. Shows respect and courtesy to students and holds them accountable for their actions and behavior. Works in partnership with staff from all Departments to ensure effective supervision and services are provided to students. May be assigned to assist in other departments as needed. Schedule Monday-Friday, 1:00 PM-10:00 PM, Saturdays & Sundays off. Schedule may occasionally flex depending on Center needs. Required Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent required. Advanced degrees preferred. Must possess and maintain a valid in-State Driver's License and meet Company insurability requirements. Previous experience working with youth preferred. Physical requirements include sitting, standing, climbing, walking, lifting, pulling and/or pushing, carrying, reaching, stooping and crouching. Demonstrates the ability to lift 40 pounds and/or the ability to assess the lift load in order to ask for necessary assistance.
