Job Description

Overview:
A Yard Jockey is responsible for the safe and efficient movement of straight trucks, trailers and equipment within the Baldor yard and dock areas to support warehouse, transportation, and distribution operations. This position plays a critical role in maintaining on-time loading and unloading, optimizing yard flow, and ensuring compliance with Company safety and operational standards.
Responsibilities:
Coordinate closely with Transportation and Warehouse Operations to support loading and unloading schedules by moving trucks to assigned docks and designated parking areas. Safely maneuver trailers, straight trucks, and yard equipment within confined yard and dock spaces, including backing vehicles into tight areas. Perform basic vehicle inspections and promptly report any observed damage, safety concerns, or maintenance issues. Transport vehicles to and from leasing locations, fueling areas, and maintenance or repair shops, as required. Maintain organized yard flow to support efficient warehouse and transportation operations. Follow all Company safety procedures, yard rules, and traffic patterns. Communicate effectively with warehouse teams, transportation leadership, and dispatch to ensure smooth operations.
Requirements:
Valid Drivers License with a minimum of one year driving experience. Experience operating FMCSA-regulated vehicles (preferred). Valid DOT Medical Card. Ability to follow safety procedures, yard protocols, and operational instructions accurately. Strong communication skills and situational awareness. Ability to work independently in a fast-paced operational environment.
Schedule:
Ability to work a 6-day work schedule, based on operational needs.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift, push and pull up to 50lbs, Ability to stand and sit for extended periods of time. Ability to work outdoors in hot and cold weather conditions without reasonable accommodation.
