Responsibilities Safely operate CDL Class A tractor-trailers with low boy trailers for over-the-road (OTR) routes, ensuring compliance with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) and DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations. Load and unload heavy freight using manual handling techniques and proper equipment, ensuring cargo is secured according to safety standards. Transport specialized equipment such as refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, or hazardous materials (Hazmat), adhering strictly to hazardous materials regulations and dangerous goods protocols. Navigate routes efficiently using GPS navigation systems, planning optimal delivery paths while managing time effectively. Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, cargo manifests, inspection reports, and delivery documentation in compliance with FMCSA regulations. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of trucks and trailers to identify maintenance needs or safety issues before departure. Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding delivery schedules, route changes, or unforeseen obstacles to ensure seamless operations. Experience Proven experience operating commercial trucks with manual transmission in a delivery or logistics environment. Demonstrated ability to handle refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, or hazardous materials transportation safely and efficiently. Familiarity with GPS navigation tools and route planning for long-distance deliveries across diverse terrains. Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT standards, hazard communication protocols, and safety procedures related to truck driving and cargo handling. Prior experience with load & unload procedures involving freight that requires manual handling or specialized equipment. Valid CDL Class A license with relevant endorsements, must meet all state and federal licensing requirements. Strong understanding of logistics cargo handling processes and the importance of adhering to safety standards during transportation.
