Job Description
Laborer/Equipment Operator The Town of Buxton is accepting applications for a Full Time, Laborer/Equipment Operator in our Public Works Department. The duties will include assisting with maintenance of Town highways, lawn mowing, plowing snow and other general maintenance. This position requires working in a variety of weather conditions, including cold, snow, rain, and hot conditions. The job requires some manual labor duties including, lifting, shoveling, raking, operation of chainsaws, large trucks and other equipment as assigned by the Public Works Director. Prior experience with snow plowing, use of heavy equipment, and an active Maine Class B CDL is required, Class A preferred. May train the right candidate for CDL. Applicants must have and maintain clean driving records. This full time position works 8 hour shifts, Monday-Friday 7:30am - 3:30pm in the winter. During the summer the schedule changes to 4 10-hour shifts, Monday-Thursday 6am-4:30pm. Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent GED.
