Job Description

JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for customer deliveries with a flatbed trailer, operating a Moffett/Forklift loading and unloading trucks and occasional inventory pick-ups from Ohio and Canada.
REPORT TO
Shipping Manager The ideal candidate will be a team-oriented individual with a strong, self-directed work ethic with the ability to manage a busy work environment. The ideal candidate should also be able to juggle multiple tasks and work under tight deadlines when necessary. This employee must be available to work 44-60 hours per week; Monday through Friday on a day shift, willing to start early. Primary responsibilities of this position are, but not limited to: Daily pre and post trip inspection to comply with MDOT requirements Unloading material from truck / trailer via Moffett Safe operation of truck and trailer Usage of Electronic Logging Device (ELD) Possibility for occasional pick ups in Ohio and Canada Strap loads to ensure load is properly secured Check loads for accuracy and team with yard personnel if questions arise Delivery of material to customers in a safe and timely manner Interact with customers in a professional manner
Qualifications:
Minimum 2 years of experience as CDL
  • Class A driver Minimum 2 years Moffett forklift experience Minimum 2 years Flat Bed experience Comfortable hauling up to 103,000 pounds Clear background and drivers record Valid CDL, Class A license and current MDOT Medical Card Must be familiar with the Metro Detroit and surrounding areas Problem solving and basic math skills Ability to read and comprehend shipping related documents Demonstrate sound mechanical ability with basic troubleshooting knowledge Strong communication and customer relations skills
