Job Description
Nix Contracting is seeking an experienced Class A CDL Driver to support daily operations across multiple job sites. This role goes beyond standard hauling — the driver will rotate between gravel/material delivery, heavy equipment transport, and general site support as project needs dictate. We're looking for someone versatile, safety-focused, and comfortable working around active construction operations. Key Responsibilities Operate leads and dump trucks to haul gravel, aggregate, and other materials to and from job sites Load and transport heavy equipment (excavators, dozers, skid steers, etc.) using lowboy/RGN trailers Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections; report mechanical issues promptly Secure loads properly using chains, binders, straps, and tarps per DOT regulations Coordinate with site supervisors and dispatch to prioritize daily hauls and equipment moves Maintain accurate logs, delivery tickets, and DOT-required documentation Assist with basic ground-support tasks at job sites as needed (spotting, minor equipment operation, cleanup) Follow all company safety policies, DOT regulations, and job site safety protocols Qualifications Valid Class A CDL with clean driving record Minimum 2 years of verifiable CDL driving experience (dump truck and lowboy/equipment hauling preferred) Experience hauling heavy equipment and securing loads to DOT standards Current DOT medical card Ability to pass pre-employment and random drug/alcohol screening Familiarity with gravel/aggregate hauling operations a plus Strong communication skills and ability to work independently Willingness to work variable hours, early starts, and occasional overtime based on project demands Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (tarps, chains, binders) Ability to climb in/out of truck cab and trailer frequently Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
