Job Description
We are looking for an energetic and motivated Lumberyard Associate to join our team. As part of this role, you will be responsible for loading customers' orders, unloading incoming inventory, assisting in inventory control and performing general housekeeping. You will work with your team to maintain the lumberyard and help customers find the products they need. You should have strong customer service skills and an ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
Provide superior customer service in yard operation; answers customers' questions and concerns regarding orders and retrieves orders. Assists in gathering materials to build loads/orders. Perform cutting and packaging of materials, as directed, to prepare products for customer's use - load building material. Load orders onto customer vehicles and company delivery vehicles. Organize, stack, and store lumber and building materials (e.g., plywood, framing lumber) in designated areas according to size, type, and grade. Operate the yard forklifts once training and certification have been achieved. Help unload transport trucks with product for the store and yard. Be knowledgeable about all products stored in the yard. Practice proper material handling techniques to ensure minimal damage to yard inventory. Keep the yard area clean and presentable in appearance. Executes and understands the importance of time management, standards of operating procedures, owner's manuals and product/warning labels. Assists in keeping inventory stocked with proper materials. Operates with a strict awareness of all safety. Execute the daily operational, day-to-day goals and priorities assigned by store management displaying a "Speed is Life" attitude. Move with a sense of urgency while paying attention to the details. Cooperate with others and work well as part of a retail team, for example actively participate in daily huddle meetings, share ideas for improvement with management. Provide the best possible experience for Every Customer, Every Time by being helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly. Actively participate in store communication and initiatives (e.g., Communication Board, Daily Huddle, store contests, etc.) Assist Customers with simple complaints/concerns; get a manager involved with problems as needed. Use the Five Foot Rule - greet and/or acknowledge all customers within five feet of you all the time. Always be polite and attentive to customers. Make eye contact and smile. Do not avoid customers. Promote the Ace Rewards program to all customers, describe the Ace Helpful Promise(s) and use the Magic Question. Maintain awareness of all promotions and advertisements so you can tell customers about special sales. Always wear your radio and headset in order to effectively communicate with other associates or management. Assist in the training and development of peers.
