Job Description

Overview Join our growing team as a Septic & Environmental Technician and play a critical role in protecting public health and maintaining essential sanitation systems. In this hands-on, fast-paced position, you will support septic system services, wastewater management, and environmental compliance efforts across residential, commercial, and industrial sites. From operating pump trucks to performing hydro excavation and jetting services, your work will directly contribute to safe, efficient waste handling and environmental protection. This is an excellent opportunity for motivated individuals who enjoy working outdoors, operating specialized equipment, and making a meaningful impact in their community. Responsibilities Operate pump trucks to perform septic tank pumping, grease trap cleaning, and wastewater removal in accordance with safety and environmental regulations. Provide dumpster service and portable toilet delivery, setup, servicing, and removal for job sites, events, and customers. Perform hydro excavation (hydro vac) and high-pressure jetting services to clear blockages, expose underground utilities, and maintain sewer and septic lines. Conduct routine inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs of septic systems, including tanks, pumps, and distribution components. Assist in diagnosing system failures and recommending effective repair or maintenance solutions. Ensure proper disposal of waste materials at approved facilities while maintaining compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations. Maintain accurate service records, logs, and compliance documentation for all field activities. Adhere to OSHA safety standards and company protocols while operating equipment and working in confined spaces or hazardous environments. Perform basic preventative maintenance and inspections on trucks, pumps, and service equipment to ensure safe operation. Communicate professionally with customers to explain services, findings, and recommendations. Collaborate with team members to complete jobs efficiently and safely in a variety of weather and site conditions. Experience Valid CDL (Commercial Driver's License) required; tanker endorsement preferred or willingness to obtain. Experience operating pump trucks, vacuum trucks, or similar heavy equipment is highly desirable. Familiarity with septic systems, wastewater handling, or environmental services is preferred. Experience with hydro vac excavation and jetting services is a strong plus. Knowledge of dumpster service and portable sanitation operations is beneficial. Mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform basic equipment and system repairs. Understanding of safety regulations, including OSHA standards, and safe work practices. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in field environments. Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, climbing, and working in confined spaces. Strong attention to detail with solid record-keeping and customer service skills. This role offers a dynamic work environment where no two days are the same. If you're a dependable, safety-focused professional with a CDL and a willingness to get your hands dirty, this is a great opportunity to build a rewarding career in the environmental and sanitation services industry.
