CDL Driver Job Description This role involves safely operating a Class A commercial vehicle with a flatbed trailer and mounted moffett to transport and offload brick to customer sites across North Carolina and surrounding states. You will complete daily routes that may range from local deliveries to trips as far as Virginia and South Carolina, while returning home each night. The position requires hands-on assistance with unloading materials at customer locations and strict adherence to all safety and Department of Transportation (D.O.T.) regulations. Responsibilities Operate a Class A commercial truck with a flatbed trailer and moffett to transport brick and related materials to customer sites. Assist with safely offloading brick at client locations using appropriate equipment and techniques. Drive routes that may include travel across North Carolina and to nearby states such as Virginia and South Carolina, as well as local routes around Greensboro, Winston-Salem, and Charlotte. Operate hydraulic systems (wet lines) and live bottom trailers safely and correctly. Perform and document safety, pre-trip, and post-trip inspections of the vehicle and equipment. Maintain a clean, safe driving record and comply with all D.O.T. and company safety policies. Follow maps, route instructions, and delivery schedules accurately to ensure timely deliveries. Use all required personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow established safety precautions at all times. Support a variety of duties as requested, including assisting at customer sites and within the facility when needed. Work weekday shifts and occasional weekends, staying on duty until loads and assigned work are complete. Communicate with dispatch, supervisors, and customer contacts in a professional and timely manner. Participate in on-site route and equipment walkthroughs to understand daily expectations and job flow. Essential Skills Current and valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL). Ability to safely operate a flatbed trailer with a moffett attached. Ability to safely operate hydraulic systems (wet lines). Ability to safely operate a live bottom trailer. Good, clean, and safe driving record that meets company and D.O.T. standards. Ability to perform safety, pre-trip, and post-trip inspections in compliance with regulations. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, including maps and route directions. Willingness and flexibility to perform a variety of duties as requested. Ability to work afternoons and stay until all work and loads are complete. Ability to work weekends as needed. Ability to work in all weather conditions. Physical ability to meet D.O.T. physical requirements. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and to bend, stoop, and crawl as required by the job. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience driving Class A vehicles such as flatbeds and live bottom trailers. Familiarity with operating moffett forklifts or similar truck-mounted equipment. Comfort working in manufacturing environments and at customer sites, including farms and other manufacturing plants. Strong commitment to safety and consistent use of PPE. Reliable work ethic with a focus on punctuality and route completion. Good communication skills for interacting with internal teams and customers during deliveries. Why Work Here? Work Environment This position is based out of a manufacturing environment and involves daily travel to customer sites, including other manufacturing plants and some farm locations. Standard hours are Monday through Friday, typically from 7:00 a.m. to approximately 5:00 p.m., with the actual end time depending on the status of loads and route completion. Occasional weekend work may be required based on business needs. You will work outdoors in all weather conditions and in active industrial settings where the use of personal protective equipment is expected. The role is physically demanding, involving regular lifting, bending, stooping, and crawling, as well as operating trucks, trailers, hydraulic systems, and moffett equipment. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Madison, NC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $54080.00 - $54080.00/yr.
