Physical Requirements The CDL Driver must be able to: Sit and operate a commercial vehicle for extended periods. Enter and exit the truck and trailer safely. Perform vehicle inspections. Climb steps and access areas of the truck and trailer. Bend, reach, and walk around the vehicle during inspections and loading/unloading operations. Work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Safely perform duties in an active construction environment. Work Environment This position involves working in a variety of environments, including: Construction sites Quarries and material yards Public roadways Customer locations Highway and local hauling operations Drivers should expect exposure to dust, noise, heavy equipment, traffic, changing weather conditions, and other typical construction-industry hazards. Responsibilities Safely operate tractor-trailer units equipped with dump trailers, ensuring secure transportation of freight across over-the-road (OTR) routes. Load and unload cargo using manual handling techniques, forklift assistance, or trailer hydraulics, maintaining strict safety protocols. Navigate using GPS systems to optimize routes and meet delivery schedules efficiently. Comply with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration), DOT (Department of Transportation), and hazardous materials regulations when transporting dangerous goods or hazardous materials. Manage refrigerated trailers when applicable, ensuring proper temperature control during transit. Load and unload freight onto flatbeds, tankers, or other specialized trailer types as required for different cargo types. Qualifications Proven experience in commercial truck driving, particularly with tractor-trailers and dump trailers. Valid commercial driver's license (CDL), with endorsements for hazmat and tanker operations preferred. Familiarity with manual transmission trucks and manual handling procedures for cargo management. Knowledge of logistics cargo handling, route driving, and truck loading/unloading techniques. Strong understanding of FMCSA regulations, hazard materials regulations, and DOT safety standards. Experience with refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, or tanker trucks is a plus. Excellent driving skills with a clean driving record; ability to operate GPS navigation systems confidently. Ability to handle hazardous or dangerous goods safely and responsibly in compliance with all safety protocols.
