Job Description

Franciscan Healthcare is looking for a Public Transportation Driver to provide safe transportation to community members in different types of vehicles including wheelchair accessorized buses and vans.
Hours:
Part-time, Day time hours, Thursdays and Fridays
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Keep in communication with staff responsible for scheduling, advising and updating any changes about drives, rides and schedules. Track and enter information into mobile including such things as notifying dispatch of additional stops, additional passengers and/or changes to the originally planned ride. Track and enter payments and monies from riders using both electronic devices and handwritten documentation. Safely drive passengers to their destinations, assisting passengers in and out of the vehicles, walking beside them for stability and helping with small packages. Represent the transit service in a professional manner including behaving and communicating with passengers in a polite and respectful manner. Inspect vehicle daily using checklist prior to driving the vehicles. Monitor and maintain vehicle during shift such as keeping an appropriate gas level throughout the shift. Clean and maintain the inside of the vehicle. Maintain assigned records and reports as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and/or Experience High School graduate or equivalent Valid Driver's License in the State of Nebraska Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or obtainable within three months of hire date Experience driving shuttles, large vans, or buses, preferred. Experience with developmental disabilities and/or the elderly preferred. Other Competencies Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships and to interact positively and productively with team members. Must be able to drive a vehicle for long periods of time. Knowledge of federal, state and local laws with respect to driving and public transportation. Knowledge of roads and maps in the city and surrounding areas. Ability to communicate effectively and interact professionally. Ability to remain calm and respectful during interactions with difficult people. Skills to maintain clean and sanitary conditions. Must be able to exert up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, up to 20 lbs. of force frequently and up to 10 lbs of force constantly to move objects. Frequent moderate lifting, pulling, pushing and carrying.
