Job Description
1st/2nd/3d shift availabilaty Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated Yard Driver to join our logistics team, responsible for safely and efficiently transporting freight within our yard and to designated delivery points. The Yard Driver plays a vital role in maintaining smooth operations by handling various types of cargo, including refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, and tankers, while adhering strictly to safety regulations and transportation standards. This position offers an engaging opportunity for experienced drivers committed to precision, safety, and excellent service delivery. The ideal candidate will possess strong driving skills, knowledge of logistics cargo handling, and familiarity with federal and state transportation regulations. Responsibilities Safely operate a variety of commercial trucks, including tractor-trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and refrigerated trailers, within the yard and on over-the-road routes. Load and unload freight accurately using manual handling techniques and appropriate equipment. Ensure compliance with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration), DOT (Department of Transportation), hazardous materials regulations, and other safety standards. Use GPS navigation systems to follow designated routes efficiently and meet delivery schedules. Transport hazardous materials or dangerous goods in accordance with safety protocols and regulatory requirements. Maintain vehicle cleanliness and perform routine inspections before and after trips to ensure operational safety. Document trip details accurately, including mileage, cargo information, and delivery confirmations. Assist with truck loading and unloading processes to optimize cargo handling efficiency. Adhere to all route driving protocols, including OTR (Over the Road) driving routes when applicable. Communicate effectively with dispatchers and warehouse personnel to coordinate deliveries and pickups. Skills Proven experience in commercial truck driving, including delivery driving and route driving. Knowledge of truck loading/unloading procedures for freight such as freight containers, hazardous materials, or specialized cargo like refrigerated goods. Familiarity with GPS navigation tools for efficient route planning. Strong understanding of FMCSA regulations, DOT rules, hazardous materials regulations, and safety standards. Ability to operate manual transmission trucks confidently. Experience with logistics cargo handling techniques for various trailer types including flatbed and tanker trucks. Excellent manual handling skills for load & unload activities while maintaining safety standards. Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with relevant endorsements such as Hazmat or Tanker preferred. Good communication skills to coordinate effectively with team members and clients. Demonstrated ability to maintain safety records in compliance with federal regulations. This role is essential for ensuring timely deliveries while maintaining the highest safety standards.
