Job Description
Position Overview The Yard Worker is responsible for maintaining the organization, cleanliness, and safety of the yard and assisting with the loading, unloading, and delivery of construction materials. This role supports both warehouse and customer operations to ensure materials are handled efficiently and customers receive excellent service. Key Responsibilities Load and unload delivery trucks using forklifts, loaders, or by hand. Pull and stage orders for customer pickup or delivery. Maintain an orderly and safe yard and inventory storage area. Inspect and secure materials to ensure accurate and damage-free loads. Operate forklifts, skid steers, and other material-handling equipment safely. Assist customers in locating and loading products. Perform routine maintenance on equipment and report issues promptly. Monitor inventory levels and communicate shortages or damaged materials. Follow company safety policies, including PPE use and vehicle operation procedures. Support general yard, shop, and facility cleanliness. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous experience in construction materials, lumber yard, or warehouse environment a plus. Forklift certification or willingness to obtain one. Ability to lift 50-80 lbs regularly and work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Good communication and teamwork skills. Reliable, safety-minded, and detail-oriented. Work Environment This position primarily involves outdoor work in a busy yard environment with exposure to noise, dust, and weather conditions.
