Job Description
Job Overview Join Trash Burro as a Trash Truck Driver and you will play a critial role in helping to create a clean, healthy and safe community and return the local trash power to the people! Track your routes, operate trucks/trailers, perform heavy lifting, and ensure waste is collected and deposited efficiently and safely. If you're motivated, reliable, and enjoy working outdoors, this is the perfect opportunity to make a tangible difference every day. Duties Operate different types of waste collection trucks and trailers. Start early with pre-route preparations at 6am, first can lift at 7am. Load and unload waste materials safely and efficiently using mechanical knowledge of truck mechanisms. Drive safely along designated routes, adhering to traffic laws and safety protocols. Perform heavy lifting of waste containers and debris, ensuring proper manual handling techniques to prevent injury. Collect waste from commercial and residential sites, ensuring timely pickups to meet daily schedules. Conduct routine inspections of trucks before and after routes to ensure operational safety and mechanical integrity. Maintain accurate logs of collections, route completion times, and vehicle maintenance records. Experience Prior experience in commercial driving or delivery driving is highly desirable. Mechanical knowledge related to truck operation and maintenance is preferred. Hands-on experience with a variety of trucks including can tippers and flat beds will be advantageous. Ability to operate manual transmission vehicles confidently (although most of ours are automatic this is an important skill). Physical ability to perform heavy lifting tasks regularly throughout the shift. Familiarity with safety procedures for operating large vehicles and handling waste materials. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; commercial driver's license (CDL) not required for our current truck.
