Premier Metals, a subsidiary of Niagara Metals and Triple M (U.S.) Inc., is a full-service scrap metal buyer in the Rochester and surrounding area. At Premier we're dedicated to leaving a green footprint on our community by being a safe home for full-service bulk metal disposal. Located at 909 West Linden Ave. Rochester, NY, Premier Metals procures scrap metals of ferrous and non-ferrous varieties. As a subsidiary of Niagara Metals and Triple M (U.S.) Inc., Premier Metals if part of a growing enterprise which operates 30+ facilities across North America, including Canada, the United States and Mexico with additional interests in Europe. We are currently seeking to fill Driver - CDL A Manual Transmission who will transport locally within 60-90 min's distance from the facility, picking up bins from our customer locations and returning them to our facility. We expect 3-4 loads a day with some manual labor expected to help warehouse staff as needed but primarily they are loaded and unloaded with a forklift. Ideal candidate is a "team player" with a positive attitude. Hours are Monday-Friday with flexible Saturdays. Excellent benefits and bonus program. Monday to Friday 7:30AM - 4:00PM Flexible Saturdays OT Available What we expect you to do: Operate transport as assigned; transport locally within 60-90 mins of distance from the facility picking up bins from our customer locations and returning them to our facility (expected 3-4 loads a day). Comfortable performing some manual labor to help warehouse staff as needed but primarily the bins / materials are loaded and unloaded with a forklift. Inspect vehicles for mechanical items and safety issues and perform preventative maintenance. Document and log work/rest periods and miles spent driving and retain fuel/toll receipts. Comply with truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking and break periods) as well as with company policies and procedures. Communication with dispatchers throughout day on job status. Report defects, accidents or violations. Professional presentation and interaction with internal and external customers. Accurate completion of driver logbook. Accurate completion of Inspection reports (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip). Other transportation duties as assigned by manager.
You have:
Proven work experience as a truck driver in class A (Van trailer). Hands-on experience with electronic equipment and software (GPS, AVL units, CB etc.). Knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations. No recent moving or driving violations. Ability to perform some manual labor Adaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather conditions etc.). Valid truck driving license CDL A, manual transmission, and valid DOT medical card.
