Job Description

Position Overview United Health Services (UHS) is seeking a reliable and safety‑focused individual for a Weekend Evening Shift position. This role is scheduled for 20 hours per week, with shifts occurring during evening hours on weekends. Overtime opportunities are not guaranteed. The position supports UHS's commitment to high‑quality patient care by ensuring timely, dependable transportation services. The driver performs safe and efficient transportation of patients both within and outside the hospital environment to predetermined destinations using appropriate vehicles and equipment. Destinations include, but are not limited to, testing sites, nursing facilities, and private residences. The role requires adherence to established safety standards, schedules, and service expectations to ensure patient comfort, dignity, and a positive overall experience.

$17.05•$22.17 per hour, depending on experience This position is not eligible for benefits.•Job Responsibilities Operate department vehicles safely and efficiently in accordance with organizational policies and all applicable motor vehicle laws and regulations. Operate hydraulic vehicle lifts and related equipment as required to safely assist passengers and equipment. Provide courteous, professional, and responsive customer service to patients, staff, and visitors. Perform and document required daily and weekly vehicle safety inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns promptly. Accurately complete daily driver logs, applications, and other required documentation using electronic or paper-based systems. Immediately report, document, and follow required procedures for vehicle accidents, incidents, or safety events. Follow assigned routes, schedules, and dispatch instructions to ensure timely and efficient transportation services. Safely utilize mobile phones and electronic devices in compliance with UHS policies and DMV regulations. Comply with all state, federal, and local motor vehicle regulations and safety laws. Physically assist patients with transfers into and out of wheelchairs, stretchers, and beds while using proper body mechanics and safety techniques. Transport patients—including those with IVs, oxygen, or other medical equipment—between nursing units and ancillary departments using wheelchairs, stretchers, or beds as directed. Use electronic devices (mobile devices, computers) to receive, track, and complete transport assignments. Transport deceased individuals to the morgue and assist with the release of deceased individuals from the morgue following established procedures. Prepare, sort, pick up, and deliver supplies and equipment to designated areas, including linen, parcels, patient care equipment, records, and mail. Clean, inspect, and maintain support services equipment and storage areas, including stretchers, wheelchairs, frames, postage machines, and related equipment. Assemble, disassemble, and adjust orthopedic and traction equipment, including Stryker and other traction frames. Assist with the coordination of external transportation trips, including communication with internal and external stakeholders as needed. Perform other related duties as assigned to support departmental operations.
Position Qualifications Minimum Required:
Current unrestricted drivers license Two (2) years' maintenance of any form of drivers license with evidence of a clean driving record
Preferred:
High School Diploma or Equivalent Two (2) years' driving experience.
