CDL Class A Driver (Local) About the Opportunity Metalico is seeking three (3) dependable, highly skilled CDL Class A Drivers for immediate, full-time placement at our facility in Syracuse, NY If you are an experienced driver looking for steady, local, daylight hours with excellent employer-covered benefits, we want to hear from you.

Job Type:
Full-Time, Non-Exempt Hours:
Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM (Saturdays as needed; expected 40 hours per week)
Compensation:
$24.00 - $27.00 per hour (Based on experience and skills) Purpose of the Position Safely and efficiently deliver and pick up containers at customer sites. Perform all job duties in accordance with company policies and procedures. Must currently have a Class A CDL and be able to drive a standard transmission for this position.
Key Responsibilities Transport & Delivery:
Pick up and deliver containers at customer sites in a timely and efficient manner. Provide customers with appropriate paperwork.
Safety Inspections:
Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections on every truck driven daily. Ensure equipment defects are reported immediately.
Compliance Documentation:
Accurately complete all paperwork and documents required by Federal DOT and the Company daily.
Load Securing:
Take full responsibility for your load; ensure appropriate material distribution and securing of the load.
Fleet Flexibility:
Willingness to switch from one type of truck to another (for example, tractor to lowboy or from lowboy to drop deck, etc.), depending on business needs.
Company Representation:
Provide a positive representation of the company by demonstrating safe, responsible driving practices. Operate company vehicles safely by applying knowledge and skills in maneuvering vehicles at varying speeds in difficult situations (heavy traffic, inclement weather, tight loading dock areas).
Maintenance & Cleanliness:
Keep the tractor interior clean and orderly. Monitor the truck's mechanical functions and ensure the truck is maintained in accordance with maintenance schedules. Position Requirements & Qualifications Applicants must have a valid Class A CDL and possess direct experience driving manual/stick-shift standard trucks.
Licensing:
Possess a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License.
Experience:
At least 6 months of Class A driving experience (2+ years driving experience is preferred).
Vehicle Competency:
Proven driving experience with Tractor-trailers, Frameless Dump Trailers, Lowboys, and Drop decks.
Compliance Checks:
Clean Driving Record / Motor Vehicle Report (MVR). Applicants must be registered in the Federal DOT Clearinghouse.
Health Tracking:
Must possess or be able to obtain a current DOT physical card. Must meet DOT and Company requirements related to drug and alcohol testing. A job offer will be contingent on a pre-hire physical, including drug screening, criminal background screening, and an MVR report.
Physical Demands & Work Environment Dexterity & Sight:
Frequently required to sit; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Specific vision includes close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Sitting for extended periods of time. Ability to use both hands regularly with enough dexterity to safely operate a motor vehicle.
Lifting & Agility:
Ability to lift, move, and carry objects and materials up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance. Move about a salvage yard. Must be able to enter and exit the cab using foot and hand holds. Depending on need, one must be able to exert force for pushing and pulling. Able to stoop, bend, twist, balance, climb, crouch, and kneel.
Environment Conditions:
Outside work in the Yard is where temperature and weather extremes (heat, cold, rain, snow) may be encountered. Work may take place in an industrial environment with noise, dust, and fumes. Noise level in the work environment can be moderate at times; hearing protection is provided by the company at all times. Physically able to participate in training sessions, presentations, and meetings.
