WATER-SEWER REPAIR SPECIALIST I

Join our dedicated team as a Water-Sewer Repair Specialist I and help maintain the vital infrastructure that keeps our community running. Under the guidance of experienced managers and specialists, you'll perform essential work related to the installation, maintenance, cleaning, and repair of storm and sanitary sewer systems and the Water Distribution System. Key Responsibilities Install and repair water mains, valves, and fire hydrants Make service taps using tapping machines or boring equipment Locate and repair water main breaks and sewer line damage Clean storm and sanitary sewers using specialized equipment Operate dump trucks, pickup trucks, and vac truck units Maintain curb valves and inspect sewer systems for leaks Participate in seasonal programs like leaf pickup Uphold safety standards and contribute to a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion Tools & Equipment Hand and power tools (air compressors, jackhammers, bucket machines) Heavy equipment (dump trucks, pickup trucks, vac truck units) Physical & Environmental Demands Frequent standing, reaching, and tool operation Occasional climbing, crawling, and exposure to loud noise, chemicals, and outdoor weather Qualifications High school diploma or GED required Experience in water distribution or sewer maintenance preferred Mechanical aptitude and the ability to operate tools and equipment Ability to perform basic math and maintain simple records Licensure & Special Requirements Valid State of Ohio driver's license Class A CDL with tanker endorsement (or the ability to obtain within 6 months through the City's in-house entry-level driver training program) Must be a non-smoker and refrain from all tobacco/nicotine use during employment Total Compensation Plan The City offers a very competitive health benefits and compensation package, including a retirement pension through the Ohio Public Employee Retirement System, regular annual increases, and an in-house CDL entry-level driver training program.
