A Tractor-Trailer Truck Driver drives large commercial vehicles such as tractor-trailers, semi-trucks, or big rigs. Responsibilities typically include transporting cargo across long distances, sometimes over the course of multiple days. They may work for trucking companies, freight carriers, logistics, or shipping companies.
To ensure the safe, prompt and dependable distribution of School District of Lancaster supplies, materials, equipment, and any other items as directed to support a smooth and seamless educational system.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Make general pickups and deliveries throughout the District, such as food, equipment, supplies and furniture. Inspect delivery vehicles on a regular basis for the purpose of routine maintenance. Accurately sort and distribute mail, money bags, parcels, documents and other materials. Receive and deliver insured or registered mail. Evaluate and adjust delivery schedules. Maintain good working relationships with District personnel and external representatives. Maintain an organized environment within the Warehouse. Procure, deliver, and arrange furniture and other requested items for District events. Obtain, organize, and enter pertinent work order data in an accurate and timely fashion. Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS
Assist with snow and ice removal as directed by supervisor Must be willing to engage in ongoing professional development.
QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or GED required. Valid PA Driver's License and good driving record required. Minimum of three years' experience operating vehicles up to 24,000 lbs. Gross Vehicle Weight preferred. Minimum of three years' of experience operating forklifts, dollies, power tail lifts, hand carts, banding machines, etc. preferred Knowledge of operation of routine maintenance of delivery vehicles. Ability to conform to schedules and procedures necessary to ensure distribution of documents and materials. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to demonstrate a high degree of customer service skills and professionalism. Basic computer knowledge is required. Ability to support a culture of equity, diversity, and inclusion. Other qualifications to the above that the Board may find acceptable and appropriate.

EVALUATION
For new employees, evaluations will be performed according to the collective bargaining agreement. For transferring employees, evaluations will be done at 30 days. All regular employees will be evaluated at least yearly.
