Description Job Summary:
The Truck Driver / Material Handler is responsible for knowledge of the control and movement of materials and finished products in and out of the plant including their distribution points. The incumbent in this position is required to have knowledge of the workflow through the plant, have knowledge of DOT requirements as they pertain to the truck, and be qualified and certified to operate a forklift.

Must be able to lay out, and position work flow to ensure proper storage and distribution. Should be a good communicator to ensure all staff understands where materials and products are staged. Will be required to load and/or unload a truck. This individual will also be responsible for his/her safety and the safety of those around him/her. This will include a clean workstation before / during / after daily production. This will also include good personal hygiene in the event of customer contact.
Job Duties:
Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). Perform truck driving and material handling over a lengthy time span. Be able to safely operate company truck, forklift and other material handling equipment. Examine products or work to verify conformance to specifications. Maintain appropriate records, reports and DOT paperwork. Maintain a clean work area. Be able to read and understand a variety of tools for measuring including tape measure, calipers and micrometers. Other duties as assigned.
Job Skills/Abilities:
Use of various material handling equipment Understand shop work flow and distribution points Understand DOT driving requirements and all DOT requirements affiliated with the truck and the hauling of product to / from Franklin plant or customer site. Push/pull/lift 10-60 lbs of materials Use of hand tools Good hand/eye coordination Manual dexterity Be able to bend, stretch, twist or reach Be able to meet DOT physical requirements. Be mechanically inclined Self-motivated (independent) Special Working Conditions 8-hour shift (some overtime may be required) Dirty environment Noisy environment Some temperature extremes Repetition standing for long periods of time Essential job functions: Attendance at work is an essential job function. Operate forklift and cranes safely. Work in a safe and responsible manner Keep products/materials moving to ensure smooth workflow and customer delivery Adherence to all applicable DOT regulations.
