Job Description

NOW HIRING
Driver Recruiter Recruit and onboard Class A CDL drivers who meet the ML Transportation Standards. Position Purpose The Driver Recruiter is an HR role responsible for filling the seat with the right Class A CDL drivers — then getting new drivers through a clean, professional onboarding process so they can start safely and prosper once successfully onboarded at the company. This person owns the full driver talent pipeline: sourcing, screening, interviewing, offer, compliance packet, orientation, and first-week follow-up. The driver recruiter will also serve as a general HR resource for company drivers once onboarded. Essential Responsibilities Source Class A CDL driver candidates through job boards, CDL schools, referrals, social media, career fairs, and direct outreach. Screen applications against company hiring standards, including license class, experience, MVR, PSP, employment history, and safety record. Conduct phone screens and in-person or virtual interviews that evaluate driving history, work ethic, communication, and cultural fit.
Coordinate pre-employment requirements:
application packet, background check, drug screen, physical, MVR/PSP review, and employment verification. Extend offers and close candidates with a clear explanation of pay, home time, equipment, lanes, and expectations. Own driver onboarding from accepted offer through first dispatch: paperwork, orientation scheduling, policy acknowledgment, ELD/app setup, and introduction to dispatch and safety. Partner with Safety, Dispatch, and Operations so new hires understand hours-of-service, inspection standards, accident reporting, and zero-tolerance policies. Maintain an accurate recruiting pipeline and weekly hiring metrics (applications, interviews, offers, starts, and 30/60/90-day retention). Build and protect a bench of qualified drivers so open trucks do not sit idle. Represent ML Transportation professionally at hiring events and in every candidate conversation. Keep recruiting records organized, confidential, and audit-ready. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree in HR, business, or a related field preferred. 2+ years of recruiting, staffing, or HR experience; transportation or CDL driver recruiting strongly preferred. Working knowledge of CDL-A requirements, FMCSA hiring rules, MVRs, PSP reports, and DOT drug and alcohol testing. Strong phone presence and the ability to close quality candidates without overselling. Comfortable working with operations leaders and holding the line on hiring standards. Organized, deadline-driven, and able to manage multiple open requisitions at once. Proficient with Microsoft Office / Google Workspace; ATS or recruiting CRM experience a plus. Valid driver's license and ability to work on-site at the Central Pennsylvania terminals. What Success Looks Like Open trucks are covered with qualified Class A drivers who meet company standards. New drivers complete onboarding on time and start with a clear understanding of expectations. 30- and 90-day driver retention improves because the right people were hired the first time. Leadership has a current, honest picture of the driver pipeline every week. What We Offer Full-time role with a growing, family-owned Central Pennsylvania based carrier. Direct impact on fleet utilization, safety culture, and company growth. Competitive compensation and benefits commensurate with experience.
