Based onExperience and Qualifications Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and safety-focused Forestry Mulching Operator to operate specialized heavy machinery such as skid steers, excavators, and track loaders equipped with forestry mulching and other attachments, as necessary. The operator will be responsible for clearing land, managing vegetation, and assisting with site preparation for a variety of clients including residential, commercial, and government properties.Key Responsibilities:
Act in a professional manner in representation of Thickets with all correspondence Safe operation of forestry mulching and related equipment to clear land, grind brush, and mulch trees/stumps. Conduct routine preventive maintenance and DOT safety inspections on equipment daily Follow job site plans and communicate with supervisor and clients to ensure accurate project execution. Maintain awareness of surroundings and practice safe operating procedures at all times. Assist with mobilization and demobilization of equipment to and from job sites (DOT) Document daily progress, equipment hours, and any mechanical issues. Work in a variety of weather conditions and terrains, including rough and uneven ground. Collaborate with team members about improvements to better work efficiency and customer experience. Ability to follow standard operating procedures, checklist, forms, etc. Participate in equipment cleaning, occasional maintenance, general shop work and shop housekeeping when not in the field.Qualifications:
Proven experience operating forestry mulching equipment or similar heavy machinery, 2-3 years preferred. Valid driver's license and CDL A with, or without air brakes, preferred. Applicants without a CDL A are encouraged to apply. Mandatory participation in DOT randomized drug screening and annual physicals. Basic mechanical knowledge for troubleshooting and light mechanical repairs in field. Ability to read maps, job site plans, and follow instructions accurately to comply with customer requirements. Strong understanding of job site safety standards and any other environmental regulations shared regarding a project. Physical ability to perform labor-intensive tasks and work outdoors for an extended period of time. Ability to perform critical problem solving in independent situations. Positive attitude and work ethic, willingness to learn and progress within the business. Comfortable using hand work tools such as grinder, impact drill, greaser.Preferred Skills:
Knowledge of local vegetation, invasive species, and habitat preservation a plus. Certifications in heavy equipment operation, or safety programs a plus. Familiarity with wildlife development (i.e. food plots, deer hunting environments, wildlife sanctuary planning) a plus. Ability to use relevant cell phone apps such as GIS field maps, GPS, job management software. Exceptional communication skills, listening ability, and demeanor, in dealing with all clients.Working Conditions:
Work is primarily outdoors, sometimes in remote or undeveloped areas. Exposure to dust, noise, and heavy machinery is eminent. All proper personal protective equipment supplied. May require travel and multiple overnight stays on a monthly basis, depending on project location(s). Daily driving travel up to 3 hours per day may be required depending on job location. Work week may require 50+ hours during peak seasons, ability to work overtime a must. Key Benefits /Opportunities:
