Job Summary CAM Express values drivers. As a driver in our flatbed fleet you will operate flatbed trucks to deliver freight safely and efficiently, ensuring timely deliveries while adhering to all safety and regulatory standards. Duties Safely operate Class A tractor-trailers, including flatbed configurations, across over-the-road (OTR) routes and local deliveries. Load and unload freight with manual handling techniques, ensuring cargo is secured properly for transport. Use GPS navigation systems to plan optimal routes, monitor traffic conditions, and ensure on-time deliveries. Transport specialized freight such as refrigerated trailers, hazardous materials (hazmat), or dangerous goods following all Hazardous Materials Regulations (HMR) and Department of Transportation (DOT) guidelines. Load and unload freight accurately, managing logistics cargo handling with attention to detail and safety compliance. Maintain compliance with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT regulations during all phases of operation. Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers regarding delivery schedules, route changes, or issues encountered on the road. Conduct pre-trip inspections of trucks, including checking for mechanical issues, proper load securement, and ensuring adherence to safety standards. Ensure proper documentation of deliveries, including logs for hours of service, load manifests, and incident reports when necessary. Qualifications Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with clean driving record. Proven experience in commercial truck driving, especially with flatbed or tractor-trailer configurations. Familiarity with lumber and coils is a plus. Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, Hazardous Materials Regulations (HMR), and DOT safety standards. Experience with manual transmission trucks preferred. Strong route driving skills using GPS navigation tools; ability to plan routes effectively for timely deliveries. Excellent safety awareness and commitment to following all trucking regulations including load & unload procedures. Ability to handle freight securely on flatbeds while complying with logistics cargo handling protocols.
