Responsibilities Operate dump trucks and tractor-trailers safely across over-the-road (OTR) routes, adhering strictly to FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards. Load and unload freight, including hazardous materials and dangerous goods, following hazardous materials regulations and proper manual handling procedures. Navigate efficiently using GPS navigation systems to reach delivery points on time while optimizing route planning for maximum efficiency. Transport various types of freight such as refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, or automobile transportation units across long distances. Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, cargo details, and delivery documentation in compliance with FMCSA regulations. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of trucks to ensure safety standards are met; report any mechanical issues promptly. Safely load cargo onto trucks using manual handling techniques and secure loads properly for transit to prevent shifting or damage during transport. Skills Proven experience in commercial truck driving, including delivery driving and route driving with tractor-trailers or flatbed trucks. Knowledge of truck loading and unloading procedures, logistics cargo handling, and freight management. Familiarity with refrigerated trailers, tankers, hazardous materials regulations, and dangerous goods handling. Ability to operate GPS navigation systems confidently for route planning and real-time adjustments. Strong understanding of FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration), DOT (Department of Transportation), and hazardous materials regulations to ensure compliance at all times. Experience with manual transmission trucks and manual handling techniques for safe cargo management. Excellent driving skills with a clean driving record; experience with over-the-road (OTR) routes preferred. Ability to load & unload cargo efficiently while maintaining safety standards; physically capable of manual handling tasks required for truck loading/unloading.
