Position Summary Capital Waste Services is seeking a highly dependable HQ Relief Driver to provide operational support and route coverage across our locations throughout South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, and Florida. This position serves as a critical resource for the organization, filling in during driver shortages, vacations, leaves, peak service periods, new contract startups, and other operational needs. The ideal candidate is a safe, professional CDL driver who enjoys travelling, adapts quickly to new environments, and is committed to delivering exceptional service while supporting teams across multiple locations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Safely operate collection vehicles in accordance with company policies, DOT regulations, and local traffic laws. Provide route coverage and operational support at Capital Waste Services locations throughout the Southeast region. Perform residential, commercial, industrial, and municipal waste collection duties as assigned. Operate multiple truck types, including Front End Loaders, Automated Side Loaders, Rear Loaders, Roll-Off Trucks, and other specialized equipment as needed . Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and complete all required documentation. Maintain accurate route information, vehicle inspection records, and service documentation. Communicate effectively with dispatchers, supervisors, mechanics, and local operations teams. Deliver excellent customer service while maintaining a professional appearance and attitude. Report safety concerns, accidents, incidents, or equipment issues immediately. Assist with training, mentoring, or operational support when assigned. Comply with all company safety, environmental, and operational policies. Qualifications Required Valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL). Acceptable driving record and ability to meet insurability requirements. Ability to pass DOT drug screening, physical, and background screening requirements. Willingness and ability to travel extensively throughout South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, and Florida. Ability to work flexible schedules, including occasional weekends and holidays as business needs require. Strong safety mindset and commitment to operational excellence. Preferred Waste industry, transportation, construction, utility, or heavy equipment operating experience. Experience operating multiple vehicle types. Knowledge of DOT regulations and vehicle inspection requirements. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Ability to adapt quickly to new routes, facilities, and operating environments. Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills. Self-motivated with the ability to work independently. Excellent attendance and reliability. Professional communication and customer service skills. Ability to learn and follow location-specific procedures. Physical Requirements Frequently lift, push, pull, and maneuver objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Ability to climb in and out of vehicles multiple times throughout the day. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, and reach for extended periods. Travel Requirements This position requires extensive travel (up to 100%) throughout the Capital Waste Services operating region, including: South Carolina North Carolina Georgia Tennessee Florida Company-paid travel accommodations, transportation, and approved business expenses will be provided in accordance with company policy.
