Job Summary Join our dynamic team as a Swing Driver specializing in residential garbage pickup! In this energetic role, you will operate various types of waste collection trucks, including side arm, rear loader, and front loader trucks, to ensure efficient and reliable waste removal services for our community. Your expertise in commercial truck driving combined with a strong commitment to safety and customer service will drive the success of our solid waste management operations. This position offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a dedicated team that keeps neighborhoods clean and promotes environmental responsibility. Duties Safely operate different waste collection trucks such as side arm, front loader, and rear loader trucks, adhering strictly to traffic laws and DOT regulations Follow established safety protocols, including air brake and hazardous materials regulations, to prevent accidents and ensure compliance Drive predetermined routes, maintaining punctuality and route accuracy while managing heavy lifting tasks during collection Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers to address service needs or concerns with professionalism and courtesy Conduct routine vehicle inspections, report mechanical issues promptly, and perform basic maintenance to ensure optimal truck performance Adhere to municipal waste management standards and state transportation regulations during all operations Experience Proven experience operating commercial trucks such as side arm, front loader, and/or rear loader trucks in a municipal or private waste management setting Solid understanding of heavy-duty vehicle mechanics and safety procedures related to air brakes, manual transmissions, and hazardous materials handling Demonstrated knowledge of traffic laws, DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations, and state transportation rules governing commercial driving Outdoor work experience in varying weather conditions with the ability to perform physically demanding tasks including heavy lifting Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with residents and team members Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with relevant endorsements for heavy trucks and air brakes preferred Commitment to safety protocol adherence, hazard awareness, and environmentally responsible waste collection practices Embark on a rewarding career that makes a tangible difference in your community!
