In this role, you will be responsible for safely operating tractor-trailers and various specialized trucks to deliver freight efficiently and reliably across designated routes. Your expertise in handling different types of trailers, including refrigerated, flatbed, tanker, dump trucks, roll-off trucks, and tractor-trailers, will ensure timely deliveries while maintaining the highest safety standards. Duties Safely operate a variety of trucks including manual transmission tractor-trailers, refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, dump trucks, and roll-off trucks to transport freight across multiple routes. Load and unload cargo using appropriate equipment such as forklifts when necessary, ensuring proper handling and securing of freight. Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections to verify vehicle safety, mechanical condition, and compliance with all federal and state regulations. Plan efficient routes for timely deliveries while adhering to delivery schedules and route driving protocols. Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, mileage, fuel consumption, and delivery documentation in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers regarding delivery schedules, delays, or issues encountered during routes. Handle various types of freight including general cargo, refrigerated goods, oversized loads on flatbeds, hazardous materials in tankers (if qualified), and other specialized shipments. Requirements Valid CDL A license with a clean driving record. Proven experience operating commercial trucks such as tractor-trailers, refrigerated trailers. Ability to drive transmission vehicles confidently. Experience with load & unload operations and securing freight using straps or load locks. Knowledge of safety procedures related to truck driving and freight handling. Familiarity with route planning tools and GPS navigation systems for efficient route execution.
