Job Description

Summary/Objective:
The Senior Yard Assistant is responsible for loading and unloading trucks by operating cranes, forklifts, and trucks in the yard. They are also responsible for moving cranes in and out of the shop by operating Goldhofer trailers, haul trucks and trailers, or driving/crawling the cranes. The Senior Yard Assistant is required to take a Leadership position and get the job done safely and efficiently while working long hours and on weekends.
Responsibilities:
Operate cranes, forklifts, and Goldhofer trailers to offload, load, and move cranes and crane parts in the yard. Assists and determines the proper method of lifting equipment for each assigned project. Assists with the set-up of cranes. Conducts basic loading of heavy-lift projects by rigging the crane equipment and ensuring the proper use of each equipment method. Ability to optimize resources (manpower, equipment, and materials) to ensure efficient and timely completion of the project. Specifies locations for movement of machinery using knowledge of various methods of sliding and lifting equipment. Familiar with and enforces strict compliance with all Safety procedures, including all Company rules and regulations. Knowledge of and ability to perform basic maintenance on cranes and other equipment. Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
NCCCO LBC and TLL certifications are preferred but not a must. Valid driver's license and clean driving record. Must have experience assembling, disassembling, and moving cranes. Must be proficient with basic computer skills. Must have proficient oral and written communication skills. Must be able to pass a drug test, background check, and fit for duty test. Safety training and certifications are preferred.
Physical Demands:
Approximately 10% of time spent in usual office conditions Approximately 90% of time is spent in external conditions which may include temperature variance, elevated noise levels, dust, and fumes.
