Full-Time Job Summary Basin Recycling is hiring a hardworking, dependable Yard Hand to support daily operations in a busy scrap, recycling, and steel yard in Vernal, Utah. This is a physically demanding, hands-on role for someone with a strong labor background who is comfortable working outdoors, staying active all day, and helping keep yard operations moving safely and efficiently. The operation includes scrap and recycling services, steel and material handling, trucking support, bin and dumpster service, demolition-related support, and general yard operations. This role is a great fit for someone with experience in heavy labor, construction, demolition, landscaping, concrete, oilfield, agriculture, warehouse, or similar physical work. Heavy equipment experience is a major plus, but it is not required and is not the main function of the role. We are looking for someone who shows up consistently, works hard without needing to be pushed, follows direction, takes coaching well, and is willing to jump in wherever needed. This person should be confident, personable, safety-minded, and willing to do the tough day-to-day work that keeps a recycling yard clean, safe, and productive. Key Responsibilities Perform general yard labor in an active scrap, recycling, and steel yard environment Load, unload, sort, move, and organize scrap metal, steel, recyclable materials, and yard materials Assist with cleanup, sweeping, shoveling, picking up debris, and keeping work areas safe and organized Help process incoming materials and support overall yard flow Work around scrap metal, steel, bins, trucks, forklifts, loaders, and other industrial equipment Assist customers, drivers, operators, and team members as needed Help with material staging, loading zones, containers, and general yard organization Follow direction from supervisors and learn yard procedures quickly Support the team with physically demanding tasks throughout the shift Follow all safety procedures and wear required PPE Maintain awareness of trucks, equipment, customers, sharp materials, and changing yard conditions Support the team with other duties as assigned based on workload and operational needs What We're Looking For Heavy labor, construction, oilfield, agriculture, warehouse, landscaping, concrete, demolition, scrap, recycling, or industrial yard experience preferred Must be hardworking, dependable, and coachable Must be comfortable working outdoors in changing weather conditions Must be able to lift 50+ pounds repeatedly Must be able to stand, walk, bend, twist, shovel, sweep, and perform physical labor throughout the day Heavy equipment experience is a big plus, but not required Forklift, skid steer, loader, excavator, or material-handling experience is helpful Must be willing to fill in wherever needed as the company grows Must be safety-minded and aware of surroundings Strong attendance, punctuality, and work ethic are required Must be able to follow direction and work well with a team Must be personable, respectful, and comfortable interacting with coworkers, drivers, and customers Why Work for Us Steady, full-time work: Recycling, steel, material handling, trucking support, and yard operations are ongoing needs. Work Environment This role works in an active outdoor recycling and steel yard setting around scrap metal, steel, trucks, forklifts, containers, customers, and industrial equipment. The work is physical, fast-paced, and requires constant attention to safety and surroundings. Candidates should be comfortable working outdoors in heat, cold, wind, dust, mud, and changing weather conditions.
