Job Description
Lazer Logistics is seeking a Part Time Local CDL A Driver to support yard management and shuttle operations for major distribution centers. In this home-daily role, you will safely move trailers between docks, yards, and local facilities using day-cab tractors and specialized spotting equipment. Responsibilities include performing pre- and post-trip inspections, following all DOT and company safety rules, maintaining accurate move and load records via onboard technology, and communicating with dispatch and yard coordinators. Responsibilities Safely operate CDL A tractor to move trailers locally between yards, docks, and nearby facilities Perform required pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections and document findings Follow all DOT, company, and site-specific safety policies and procedures Use yard management and onboard technology to track trailer moves and assignments Communicate effectively with dispatch, yard coordinators, and warehouse staff Secure equipment and trailers, including proper chocking, parking, and coupling/uncoupling Maintain accurate logs, move sheets, and basic equipment condition reports Report incidents, hazards, and maintenance needs promptly Support efficient yard flow and trailer positioning to meet customer schedules Participate in required safety meetings and ongoing driver training Required Skills CDL A tractor operation Local/yard switching and spotting DOT regulations and compliance Pre- and post-trip inspections Backing and maneuvering in tight yards Electronic logging and yard management systems Basic equipment troubleshooting Safety and hazard recognition Radio/dispatch communication Time management and scheduling
