Full Job Description Experience:
High school diploma/GED; valid driver's license with a clean driving record; minimum of 5 years of driving experience. Job Summary The Non-Emergency Transportation Driver is responsible for the safe, timely, and compassionate transportation of pediatric/adult patients to and from medical appointments, therapies, and other designated locations. This role requires a strong commitment to safety, excellent driving skills, and the ability to interact positively and professionally with children and their guardians, ensuring a comfortable and secure transport experience. Key Responsibilities Safely operate a non-CDL vehicle to transport patients according to scheduled routes and appointments. Adhere to all traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure cleanliness, safety, and proper working condition. Assist patients, as needed, with entering and exiting the vehicle, including securing car seats or booster seats for appropriate age/size. Communicate effectively and courteously with patients, guardians, dispatch, and medical staff regarding schedules, delays, or any issues. Maintain accurate transportation logs, mileage records, and patient manifests. Ensure the vehicle is clean, well-maintained, and equipped with necessary safety items. Respond to unexpected situations or emergencies calmly and professionally, following established protocols. Protect patient confidentiality and privacy at all times. Qualifications and Requirements High school diploma or GED equivalent. Valid state driver's license with a clean driving record (no major violations in the past 3-5 years). Minimum of 5 years of professional driving experience. Experience working with children and adults in a professional or volunteer capacity is highly preferred. Ability to pass a comprehensive background check and drug screening. Excellent knowledge of local traffic laws and routes. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, especially with children and parents. Patience, empathy, and a compassionate demeanor. Ability to maintain a strict schedule and manage time effectively. Current CPR and First Aid certification is a plus. Physical Requirements Ability to sit for extended periods while driving. Ability to safely lift and secure car seats, booster seats, and assist children (up to 50 pounds). Ability to safely lift and secure adult patients up to 300 pounds. Ability to assist patients with mobility issues, including entry and exit from the vehicle. Good vision and hearing (with or without corrective lenses) to operate a vehicle safely. Ability to perform routine vehicle checks and light maintenance tasks.
