Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and professional Local Yard Jockey/ Shuttle Driver to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for safely moving trailers around yard and shuttling to neighboring yards (10 mile radius). The ideal candidate will possess strong driving skills, a comprehensive understanding of traffic laws and safety regulations, and excellent customer service abilities. This position requires a seasoned driver with a strong understanding of safety and professionalism. Responsibilities Safely drop and hook trailers on yard as well as occasional shuttle to neighboring yards. Conduct thorough vehicle inspections before and after shifts to identify maintenance needs or safety issues Adhere strictly to all transportation safety regulations, including DOT (Department of Transportation) and state transportation laws Communicate effectively with management/ staff using two-way radios and provide clear information regarding trailer placement Maintain accurate records of vehicle condition reports Perform routine vehicle maintenance tasks such as checking air brakes, fluid levels, and tire pressure Ensure compliance with all safety protocols related to vehicle operation Experience Proven experience in yard jockey, shuttle driving, and local delivery Mechanical knowledge related to vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; commercial driver's license (CDL) preferred Ability to communicate effectively in English; good listening skills Demonstrated ability to drive safely in adverse weather conditions and heavy traffic environments Strong understanding of DOT regulations, state transportation rules, and safety standards If you are committed to safe driving practices, excellent communication skills, and positive attitude, we encourage you to apply for this vital role as a Local Shuttle Driver/ yard jockey.
