Job Description

Are you a motivated and hands-on individual with a strong work ethic? We are seeking a reliable Shop Assistant / Driver to become a crucial part of our team, ensuring the efficiency and organization of our construction company's headquarters, yard, and shop. In this role, you will be responsible for a wide range of tasks, including handling materials, organizing the shop and yard, performing basic equipment maintenance, and assisting with various shop projects. You will work closely with the shop supervisor, garage supervisor, and project coordinator to support our company and project needs. Key Responsibilities Material & Equipment Handling:
Load, unload, and transport construction materials, supplies, and heavy equipment to and from job sites. Organize and store materials in the yard and shop. Assist in tracking and maintaining inventory of materials and supplies.
Yard and Shop Maintenance:
Help maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment through daily cleaning, waste disposal, and general upkeep of the grounds and buildings.
Equipment Upkeep:
Perform basic maintenance on tools and equipment, such as cleaning and oiling, to ensure they are in safe working condition. Promptly report any equipment malfunctions to the garage supervisor.
Project Support:
Assist with the construction and updating of shop and yard storage areas. Prepare materials, tools, and supplies for projects as directed by supervisors.
General Duties:
Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures. Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications and Skills High school diploma or equivalent (preferred). Previous experience in construction or a related field is a plus. Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL): Class B required, Class A is strongly preferred. Ability to pass a comprehensive background check and obtain security clearance for access to military bases. Must be able to lift and carry heavy objects and have the physical stamina to work in various weather conditions. Basic knowledge of hand and power tools. Strong work ethic, reliability, and the ability to work independently. Excellent organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills. Forklift certification is advantageous. Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office, are preferred. Must be a dependable, drug-free team player with strong communication skills.
