Job Description

Job Overview Do you enjoy hands-on work, working outdoors, and seeing the direct impact of your work in the community? The Town of Rockingham is seeking a reliable, hardworking full-time Highway Truck Driver/Laborer to help maintain safe and accessible Town roads throughout the year. During the winter, this position assists with snow plowing, salting, sanding, snow removal, and other storm-response activities. During the remainder of the year, the employee performs general highway maintenance and construction work, including repairing roads and washed-out areas, spreading gravel, cleaning culverts and catch basins, maintaining ditches, installing signs and guardrails, loading and hauling materials, and performing other manual labor as assigned. What We're Looking For Experience with truck driving, construction, road maintenance, landscaping, or similar hands-on work Ability to operate trucks, hand tools, and basic to moderately complex highway equipment safely Ability to perform continuous, strenuous physical work in changing weather and road conditions Basic mechanical ability and willingness to perform routine maintenance and minor equipment repairs A good driving record and commitment to safe work practices Ability to pass a background check Dependability and the ability to communicate professionally with co-workers and the public A CDL is required at the time of hire.
