This position operates primarily as a CDL driving role, with most duties focused on intercompany transfers, deliveries, vehicle inspections, load securement, and regulatory compliance. Warehouse duties may be performed to support loading, unloading, inventory movement, and operational needs. The primary responsibility of the Intercompany Transfer Driver is to ensure the timely, accurate, and safe transfer of materials between company facilities and customers while maintaining compliance with DOT regulations, company safety standards, and all applicable traffic laws. This position plays a key role in supporting branch operations, inventory availability, and customer satisfaction through professional and dependable transportation services. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Safely transport construction materials, equipment, and containers between company locations and customer delivery sites Perform daily intercompany transfers to support inventory replenishment and operational requirements Operate Class A commercial vehicles in compliance with DOT regulations, company policies, and all applicable traffic laws Conduct pre-trip, post-trip, and daily vehicle inspections, reporting maintenance or safety concerns promptly Ensure loads are properly secured, balanced, and compliant with weight restrictions and transportation requirements Review transfer manifests, delivery tickets, and shipping documents for accuracy before departure and upon delivery Maintain accurate delivery, transfer, mileage, and inspection records as required Adhere to assigned routes, schedules, & delivery times while using sound judgment regarding road and weather conditions Safely transport and deliver 20-foot and 40-foot containers as assigned Coordinate with branch personnel to ensure timely loading and unloading of materials Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment as needed and in accordance with company safety standards Oversee the safe loading of vehicles to ensure material accuracy, product quality, and load security Inspect delivered materials and verify quantities to ensure order accuracy Provide professional and courteous service to branch personnel, customers, and vendors Follow all site-specific safety requirements during deliveries and transfers Accurately place and distribute materials as directed by transfer documents, delivery tickets, or customer instructions Maintain a professional appearance of self, assigned vehicles, and equipment Assist with warehouse operations, inventory movement, receiving, stocking, loading, unloading, and support as needed Support branch operations with additional duties as assigned Qualifications Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required Valid DOT Medical Card required Clean driving record and ability to maintain insurable driving status Knowledge of DOT regulations, vehicle inspection requirements, and transportation safety practices Ability to safely operate commercial vehicles, forklifts, and material handling equipment Excellent organizational and time management skills Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to work independently and manage delivery schedules effectively Flexible schedule and willingness to support business needs Ability to lift, move, and handle construction materials safely Education/Training/Experience High School Diploma or GED required Previous Class A CDL driving experience preferred Experience transporting construction materials or building products preferred Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification preferred Basic computer and handheld device experience preferred Valid licensing and certifications required to operate assigned equipment and vehicles This position requires successful completion of a drug screening and compliance with all applicable DOT requirements.
