Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a motivated and responsible Commercial Driver's License (CDL) A Driver to join our landscape team. In this role, you will operate tractor-trailers and various commercial vehicles to transport freight (mostly trees) efficiently and safely across designated routes. This position offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a fast-paced logistics operation that values safety, professionalism, and customer satisfaction. Position can be full or part-time, or seasonal depending on the candidate's desires. Most of the hauling of trees happens from early April to mid June. Duties Safely operate tractor-trailers, including, flatbeds, tankers, and roll-off trucks, following all DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations and FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) standards. Plan routes using GPS navigation systems to ensure efficient delivery schedules across over-the-road (OTR) driving routes. Load and unload freight manually or with equipment such as forklifts, ensuring proper handling of hazardous materials and dangerous goods in compliance with hazardous materials regulations. Transport various cargo types including trees, shrubs and equipment while maintaining the integrity of the load during transit. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections on vehicles to identify mechanical issues or safety concerns before and after each trip. Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, delivery records, and compliance documentation in accordance with DOT regulations. Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding route changes, delivery updates, or safety concerns during transit. Requirements Valid CDL A license with a clean driving record; experience with manual transmission preferred. Proven experience in commercial truck driving, including delivery driving for freight or hazardous materials. Knowledge of truck loading and unloading procedures, including the use of forklifts when necessary. Familiarity with GPS navigation systems and route planning for efficient OTR driving routes. Understanding of FMCSA regulations, DOT standards, hazard communication protocols, and hazardous materials regulations. Ability to manually handle cargo safely and efficiently while adhering to safety standards. Strong communication skills for coordinating deliveries and ensuring customer satisfaction.
