JOB SUMMARY

The patient transport driver provides safe, courteous, and efficient transportation of patients to appointments and activities off-campus. This position helps ensure the safety of patients and other staff members during trips and ensures that the assigned vehicle is in safe operating condition Essential Duties Drives an organization-provided vehicle to transport patients safely to other healthcare facilities within Wyoming or surrounding states, as needed. Participates with cottage life as needed (for example, helping activities, assisting with cares, culinary tasks) Assists patients in getting in and out the vehicle and safely inside their respective destination. Ensures the safety of passengers with severe physical, mental, or developmental problems while in vehicle. Assists other staff member(s) with patient de-escalation strategies as needed. Maintains a professional image and attitude with patients, coworkers and facility staff members. Reports any driving hazards, travel delays, accidents and/or passenger incidents to the supervisor. Completes vehicle pre-trip and post-trip inspections, trip log, and maintains vehicle cleanliness. Adheres to hospital policies and standard operating procedures. Any other duties as assigned

POSITION QUALIFICATION

- Education, Experience & Licensure Current valid Wyoming CNA license or current valid EMT license, required. High School diploma or equivalent, required. Minimum of 3 years of driving experience required. Current valid Wyoming driver's license. BLS, required Central Registry, required. Additional Skills Knowledge of safe driving practices. Exercises good judgment and extreme caution while operating a vehicle. Ability to read and interpret a map and operate/understand GPS devices for driving directions. Remains calm and focused in escalated or emergency situations. Understands and carries out oral and written instructions independently. Exhibits a high degree of tolerance and patience. Ability to adhere to HIPAA and confidentiality mandates.
