Job Description

NEW EMPLOYEES ARE HIRED AT, OR NEAR THE ENTRY POINT SHOWN, DEPENDING ON QUALIFICATIONS AND RELEVANT EXPERIENCE.
Performs specialized maintenance work in an assigned section of the Public Utilities Department.- Performs specialized maintenance work which involves meter maintenance and water utilities maintenance.
- Performs various tasks involving water utilities maintenance projects; performs preventive maintenance on equipment; assembles and repairs backflow devices; conducts cross-connection control inspections of customers; repairs or replaces sustaining, regulation, and pressure reducing valves.
- Responds to after-hours emergency calls when scheduled for on-call duty; determines needed manpower, equipment, parts, and materials; determines need to request location of utility services.
- Operates a variety of machinery, equipment, and tools associated with department projects, which may include a utility truck/vehicle and trailer.
- Performs general cleaning and maintenance tasks necessary to keep equipment and tools operable.
- Monitors equipment operations to maintain efficiency and safety; reports faulty equipment.
- Monitors inventory levels of supplies and materials; ensures availability of adequate supplies, tools, and materials to conduct work activities; initiates requests for new/replacement materials.
- Prepares or completes various forms, reports, correspondence, daily activity logs, inspection forms, work orders, maintenance records, charts, time cards, leave requests, or other documents.
- Operates a personal computer as necessary to complete essential functions.
- Maintains a current knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, methods, and procedures; attends workshops and training sessions as appropriate. High school diploma or GED
- required. One (1) year of related experience preferred. Fingerprinting required.
- General Educational Development (GEDs) must be issued by the American Council on Education through an approved GED Administrator.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATES
- Must complete the Sacramento Water Distribution Operator correspondence course within 6 months of hire.
- Must possess Backflow Prevention Testing & Assembly certification within 6 months of hire.
- Must possess a valid Class 3 Water Distribution System Operator License within 18 months of hire.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License with any applicable endorsement(s) to drive a County vehicle as provided in
CMA 5805.
Salary offers above the minimum pay grade may be considered based on qualifications. Essential Employees may be required to work during an undeclared or declared emergency. The County's Administrative Office will determine who will be required to work on an incident-by-incident basis.
