This is a hands-on position requiring experience working inside traffic signal controller cabinets, performing electrical terminations, splicing, testing, and diagnosing system failures. Responsibilities Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair traffic signal systems. Work in traffic signal controller cabinets, load centers, and service points. Perform wiring, terminations, splicing, and electrical connections. Troubleshoot controller, detection, communication, and field wiring issues. Install and replace signal heads, pedestrian signals, detection equipment, and cabinet components. Read electrical plans, wiring diagrams, and cabinet schematics. Perform testing, startup, and functional checks of signal systems. Coordinate work with supervisors, inspectors, and utility owners as needed. Maintain safe work practices while working around energized electrical equipment and active roadways. Complete daily work reports and document repairs and maintenance performed. Requirements Current IMSA Traffic Signal Technician Certification required. Minimum three (3) years of traffic signal installation or maintenance experience. Experience working with traffic signal controller cabinets in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties. Ability to troubleshoot controllers, cabinets, detection systems, communications, and field wiring. Experience performing electrical splicing, terminations, and equipment replacement. Ability to read electrical plans, wiring diagrams, and cabinet schematics. Valid Florida driver's license; CDL preferred. Expectations The successful candidate must be reliable, safety-focused, and capable of independently diagnosing and repairing traffic signal systems. The individual must be able to work days, nights, weekends, emergency call-outs, and up to six (6) days per week as project schedules or maintenance needs require. Occasional travel and overnight stays may be required.
